UFI Monrovia welcomes two new community spaces
Supported by the Monrovia Integrated Development Project (MIDP), the Monrovia UFI aims to revitalise two iconic areas of the Liberian capital: Woodcamp and Shoe Factory.
The projects, defined in collaboration with residents and users, have been designed as open, welcoming spaces adapted to the needs of all residents.

Shoe Factory: an abandoned site transformed into a multipurpose space
In Gardnerville, the Shoe Factory site resembled Woodcamp: an abandoned space that had become a rubbish dump and informal thoroughfare. Women, young people, elders, religious leaders and people with disabilities participated in collaborative workshops to redesign this future living space.
