Urban Fabric Initiatives week in Nairobi !

Urban Fabric Initiatives (UFI) Week is a bianual event organised by the Urban Fabric Initiatives network. It aims to bring together in one place around thirty network players : UFI operator, members of national governments working in each UFI, AFD representatives, network members and a few additional guests.

This year, the UFI week will take place in Nairobi from 03 to 07 June 2024 and will bring together thirty participants from nine different countries, including Senegal, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Kenya, Liberia, Abidjan, Tunisia, Rwanda and France!

With the aim of bringing together all the players - each bringing a certain expertise and point of view on the initiatives and participatory urban planning more generally - this year's workshops will focus on a theme for collective reflection: "the intergenerational link: the wisdom of the old, the dynamism of the new".

The UFI network welcomes three new nurseries: Kigali in Rwanda, Monrovia in Liberia and Antananarivo in Madagascar, while the year 2023 saw the completion of the nurseries in Dakar, Abidjan and Tunisia.

From the first generation of UFI (Ouagadougou, Abidjan) to the second (Senegal, Tunisia and Kenya), and this year with the three new sites launched in Kigali, Antananarivo and Monrovia, the UFI network continues to expand.

During the week, some sessions will focus on the lessons learned from the past and the new knowledge and skills contributed by the network's newest organisations, with an eye to the future of Urban Fabric Initiatives.
