Ouagadougou meets Abidjan during the Network's second exchange mission

Peer-to-peer learning, capitalising on and co-constructing knowledge necessarily involves meetings between project leaders and visits to urban incubator sites.

Fostering this exchange and building the Urban Incubator Network is the aim of cross-visits between incubators: after an initial mission bringing together the Dakar and Ouagadougou nurseries in February 2021, the people of Ouagal.es were able to travel to Abidjan for the second mission, which took place from 11 to 15 April 2021.

The Ouagadougou delegation, made up of GRET, an agent from the Agence municipale des grands travaux (contracting authority) and the first deputy mayor of the Commune of Ouagadougou, was received by its Ivorian counterparts: the Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifique, Cabanon Vertical, Urbaplan and the Ministère de la Construction, du Logement et de l'Urbanisme (contracting authority).

The week provided an opportunity for rich exchanges between "nurserymen" on the operational aspects of the projects and institutional meetings, in particular with the elected representatives of the Communes of Yopougon, Koumassi and Abobo and the Ministry. Visits to intervention sites in the three Communes and participation in co-design workshops provided an opportunity to compare and understand the realities on the ground.

The pictorial account of the mission and all its resources are available here.

The next exchange missions should be organised in the coming months. They will enable the Abidjan team to travel to Tunis, and the Dakar incubator to welcome the Tunisian delegation.
