Kounkuey Design Initiative (KDI) has won the renowned Cooper Hewitt National Design Award 2022 in the Landscape and Architecture category. KDI is the operator of the Nairobi Urban Fabric Initiative, launched in 2022. Maria Nicanor, Director of the Cooper Hewitt Museum, said, "This year's National Design Award winners reflect the central role that design can play in addressing some of the most pressing needs of our time. More broadly, this award illustrates the crucial role of public space design in the development and resilience of cities.
