Inauguration of the Kianja Échelle Mandroseza
Antananarivo, 23 July 2025: the Mandroseza neighbourhood celebrates the official inauguration of Kianja Échelle Mandroseza, the second site to be redeveloped as part of the Antananarivo Urban Fabric Initiative (PUA) project.
A living space for everyone
In Mandroseza, a long-neglected plot of land has been transformed into a shared living space, where children, artisans, associations and families come together. The Kianja Échelle Mandroseza marks a turning point in the life of the neighbourhood.
Once a source of conflict, the site is now open, accessible and vibrant. It bears the mark of those who dreamed it, designed it and then transformed it: residents, local associations, young people, women and children.

A collective for local, supportive and sustainable management
The site is now managed by the Ainga Vao (“New Breath”) collective, which brings together the driving forces of the neighbourhood: associations, artisans, and educational and cultural actors. This participatory model ensures that local communities take sustainable ownership of the site and that activities continue to be based on inclusion and solidarity.

An ecosystem of social and cultural initiatives
Around Kianja Échelle Mandroseza, a multitude of initiatives are underway. The Mihary Mandroseza and Aina Mandroseza associations work to promote solidarity-based economics, crafts and reuse for the most vulnerable, while Sahan'ny Ankizy and the Fanantenana association are involved in education and support for children. At the same time, art, sports and cultural activities contribute to the vitality of the site and strengthen community cohesion.
