Transitional urban planning in neighbourhoods undergoing urban renewal

In June 2021, the Agence Nationale de la Rénovation Urbaine published Les carnets de l'innovation - L'urbanisme transitoire dans les quartiers en renouvellement urbain, featuring Pépinières Urbaines (Project Sheet 7: pages 126 to 129). This publication provides a toolbox for implementing temporary occupation projects.The purpose of this guide is to :

• Summarise the key findings of the working group meetings;
• put forward operational solutions and methodological recommendations associated with the issues and challenges identified;
• highlight the key factors for success and replication for other areas wishing to undertake transitional urban planning projects in their urban renewal neighbourhoods.

The document is structured as follows:

• An introduction, highlighting the specific features of transitional urban planning in urban renewal areas and presenting the main themes identified in the working group sessions;
• Thematic fact sheets, covering the main obstacles identified and the associated possible solutions;
• Project sheets, presenting existing transitional urban planning initiatives, as feedback and inspiration;
• A conclusion with suggestions for continuing the process;
• Appendices: directory of working group members and contributors, bibliographical resources, standard documents and other appendices
