A card game to assess needs in the neighbourhoods of Kagugu, Rwezamenyo and Nyakabanda
Last week, the Kigali UFI, in collaboration with ASA and with methodological support from Bantu Studio, organised a series of needs assessment workshops in the neighbourhoods of Kagugu, Rwezamenyo and Nyakabanda.

At the heart of these meetings was an innovative card game designed to facilitate dialogue and prioritisation between residents, community representatives and local stakeholders. Thanks to this fun and inclusive approach, workshop participants were able to collectively identify the facilities and infrastructure most needed in their neighbourhoods.
The priorities expressed will directly guide the design of the next phase of the Kigali UFI project, which includes the development of social facilities such as public spaces, markets, schools and other institutional buildings.
The data collected during the sessions is currently being incorporated by ASA into preliminary designs, the first concrete steps towards the realisation of these developments.

Developed to be reusable and adaptable, the card game can also be used in other contexts to improve informal settlements, providing a valuable participatory tool for future urban projects in Kigali and elsewhere. The card game was designed by Bantu Studio.
