An incubator in Douala? The UFI network talks with the Fabrique Collective!
On Friday 1 October 2021, the network of urban nurseries organised an exchange between the Abidjan and Dakar nurseries and the Fabrique Collective, an association set up in 2020 by students after an initial trip to Douala in 2019, during which a project to develop the area around the Kondi drain was drawn up in conjunction with the Douala Urban Community and the Agence française de développement.
The Urban Fabric Initiative Nairobi : an incubator in the making
A new urban nursery will be built in Nairobi, Kenya, as part of the KISIP phase 2 urban restructuring project. KISIP is a project to rehabilitate shanty towns in 15 Kenyan cities, with the aim of improving living conditions for residents by financing infrastructure and improving services.

When Dakar meets Ouagadougou: the Network's first cross-exchange mission
Since 2018, AFD-funded urban nurseries have been experimenting with new ways of designing public spaces, as close as possible to future users. Four projects are currently underway in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Dakar (Senegal), Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) and several cities in Tunisia, where galloping urbanization requires local interventions that are collectively designed and supported by larger-scale structuring urban development programs.
